About

My research focuses on the sexuality and gender identity of non-elite clerics in fourteenth-century Catalunya two hundred years after canon law prohibited clerical marriage.  I investigate how clerical violence and de facto marriages shaped the masculinity of priests.

I am also interested in the sexuality,  informal unions, and marriage practices of  the Catalan peasantry, which is topic of my next book project.

In the fall of 2012, I will be joining the history department at the University of Texas at El Paso.
