About
My work focuses on the formation of class in the decades following the
American Revolution. In particular, I examine how the racially and
ethnically heterogeneous working population of the eighteenth century
transformed into a distinct white working class by the middle of the
nineteenth century. In examining northern urban centers such as
Boston, I seek to understand how the developments of race and class in
early America both complicated and reinforced one another.
I received my B.A. in 2008 from Boston College where I majored in
History and minored in Music. My advanced undergraduate thesis
examined the rise of abolitionism in Connecticut and how concepts of
race affected its growth and ideology.
