About
Practical Theologian interested in the interconnections of discourse, practice, and sustainability within congregational settings. My primary research question asks how white preachers can preach about racism in predominantly white congregations, a question I have pursued through the study of the fields of anti-racism, racial identity development theory, black protest fiction, environmental racism, authenticity in existentialism, virtue ethics, and critical discourse analysis. Drawing from my experience in preaching within church settings and seminary administration, I currently lead a variety of workshops on preaching for students at Candler's Course of Study for the United Methodist Church. Upon completion of my Ph.D., I hope to teach at a seminary or university divinity school.
